Before you start
Confirm that your dealership allows you to promote its inventory and that the vehicle is available for sale. Use the dealership’s live public vehicle-detail page as the source of truth, then follow your dealership’s advertising rules and the current requirements shown in the Marketplace form.
Keep the live page open
Inventory information changes. Compare the draft with the live page immediately before publishing, especially the price, mileage, availability, trim, and photos.
The dealership-page-to-Marketplace workflow
- Choose the correct vehicle-detail page
Open the page for one specific vehicle—not a search-results page. Confirm the stock number or VIN so you do not combine information from two vehicles.
- Collect the essential vehicle facts
Record the year, make, model, trim, condition, price, mileage, VIN, stock number, exterior color, interior color, transmission, drivetrain, fuel type, body style, and location when available.
- Select the actual vehicle gallery
Use clear exterior, interior, dashboard, cargo, wheel, and feature photos. Exclude dealership logos, website banners, placeholder graphics, unrelated vehicles, duplicates, and images that do not represent the unit.
- Write an accurate, personalized description
Lead with the vehicle identity and strongest verified details. Add your name, dealership, approved contact method, and a clear next step. Avoid inventing features or availability claims.
- Create the Marketplace draft
Enter the information requested by the visible vehicle form. If a field does not match the dealership page or cannot be verified, stop and confirm it rather than guessing.
- Review every field and photo
Compare the draft with the live page. Check price, mileage, condition, colors, trim, contact information, gallery order, and any required dealership disclaimer.
- Publish manually
Make the final decision yourself and click Post only after the listing is accurate, approved, and ready for customer responses.
- Maintain the listing
Respond to leads, confirm availability before making promises, and update or remove listings when the vehicle’s status changes.
What to include in the description
A practical description is easy to scan and based on verified facts. It can include:
- Year, make, model, and trim
- Price and mileage as shown on the current dealership page
- A short list of important verified equipment or condition details
- Your name, dealership, location, and approved contact method
- A direct call-to-action, such as requesting availability or scheduling a test drive
- Any disclaimer required by your dealership or applicable advertising policy
Avoid keyword stuffing, all-caps paragraphs, unsupported “best price” claims, and long feature lists copied without checking whether they belong to that exact vehicle.
Common vehicle-listing mistakes
- Using an old price: the listing was built from a saved screenshot instead of the current vehicle page.
- Mixing units: photos or facts came from a similar vehicle with a different VIN or stock number.
- Uploading page graphics: dealership logos, banners, and placeholder images were treated as gallery photos.
- Guessing missing fields: the rep selected the closest-looking trim, color, or condition without confirming it.
- Forgetting contact details: interested buyers cannot tell which salesperson to contact.
- Leaving sold inventory active: the listing was not updated after the vehicle’s status changed.
How to make the workflow faster without giving up review
A saved profile, a consistent listing template, a repeatable photo order, and a pre-publish checklist can remove unnecessary decisions. A listing assistant can also prepare the available facts and gallery so the rep spends more time reviewing and less time rebuilding.
AutoRep HQ’s Facebook Marketplace tool for car salespeople is designed around that assisted workflow. It prepares the draft and visible fields, while the salesperson keeps the final review and publishing decision.
Turn this workflow into a repeatable routine.
